Amicably – But How? Mediation and Arbitration: Similarities and Differences.

The Disputes and Conflicts Settlement Centre of the Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Warsaw and the Mediation Centre of the Court of Arbitration at the Polish Chamber of Commerce in Warsaw are pleased to invite you to a conference on the subject of: Amicably – But How? Mediation and Arbitration: Similarities and Differences.

The conference will be held on 23 March 2012 (from 9.30 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.) at the University of Warsaw’s Faculty of Law and Administration, Collegium Iuridicum II building, Auditorium A2, at ul. Lipowa 4.

The purpose of the conference is to present the numerous advantages of arbitration and mediation, and the similarities and differences between them.

Distinguished representatives of legal theory and practice will take part. The following, among others, have confirmed their participation: Prof. dr. hab. A panel discussion will be held on the following subjects:

● Encouraging parties to reach a settlement – an arbitrator’s duty?;
● Conciliatory methods of arbitration proceedings;
● Mixed forms of ADR: arb-med, med–arb and others;
● Evaluative mediation and its application in commercial cases in Poland and abroad;
● The role of lawyers as representatives of the parties in mediation, arbitration and before the courts.

The conference is free of charge. Seating is limited.
